Tourist in Your Own Town..Charles Towne Landing

I visited Charles Towne Landing today. It is a state park which consists of land that was originally inhabited by the first English settlers in South Carolina. It has great walking paths an animal forest and a replica vessel consistent with what the settlers would have used on trade embarkments.
This view is from the ship looking towards the downtown area. Cooper river bridge can be seen in the distance to the left which takes you to Mount Pleasant. To get to this park is less than 10 minutes from my house...who knew.

Animal Forest!! Supposedly the animals held captive here (a small zoo) are what the original settlers encountered. Bison, black bears, otters, deer, bobcats, and wild birds can all be seen here. I still prefer the Lincoln Park Zoo.

The Legare Waring House. Just as beautiful in person, this is definitely a wedding destination that will break your bank.  I have a friend in the catering business that recently worked a wedding here that Bill Murray attended. Apparently he let loose and provided an evening full of entertainment..I can only imagine.
